For adults aged 50 or older, family law issues are often different from those for adults under age 50. There may be greater need for pre-marital planning for marriages or remarriages occurring later in life. Sometimes grandparents adopt or become guardians of grandchildren. Divorces of adults over age 50 often do not involve child custody issues but may involve more complex financial issues than for divorcing couples under age 50.
